Scott designs for solar power street lighting are shown again at Frankfurt Light & Building

Another thread of Steven Scott's practice involves the development of ideas and and design concepts in the field of solar power generation.

Studio Steven Scott is committed to active involvement in the combatting of climate change; for some time we have ensured that all our large scale light art installations are powered by dedicated photo-voltaic arrays.  Beyond this Steven Scott has been involved now for some eight years in the design and manufacture of innovative solar masts - vertically integrated PV, control and battery systems - for street lighting and smart infrastructure of all kinds.

This includes a range of lightweight masts that can be carried to site and erected by two people without machinery, which we hope will help to bring independent and sustainable power to some of the billions of people on the planet still living without electricity.

At this year's Light + Building in Frankfurt, Scotia A/S, the company Steven Scott founded in 2008, showed its latest range of modular and lightweight masts to enormous interest, in an exhibition stand fashioned from three recycled shipping containers, also designed by Studio Steven Scott.
